[Notice] Introduction about the "Mechanical Engineering Research" Course

http://mpffcl.inu.ac.kr/?kboard_content_redirect=20

Dear Students,

We are now recruiting students for the course "Mechanical Engineering Research" offered in the Fall 2025 semester.

Fluid mechanics is, unfortunately, one of the most challenging subjects for undergraduate students majoring in mechanical engineering, both in Korea and abroad. However, the theories covered in undergraduate fluid mechanics courses have been rigorously verified over decades or even centuries. Among these, only the most intuitive and easily observable fluid flow phenomena in real life have been selected and included in your textbooks.

Many students have kept their interest away from fluid mechanics due to a lack of fundamental knowledge in college-level mathematics and physics. To address this issue, the Mechanical Engineering Research course (lectured by Prof. Jae-Sung Kwon) in Fall 2025 aims to provide students with the opportunity to explore fluid flow phenomena through computational fluid dynamics (CFD) or experimental methods, focusing on the following topics.

(Microfluidics) Particle separation technique using inertial microfluidics

(Experimental Fluid Mechanics) Automated measurement and data collection of flow rate, flow velocity, pressure, and temperature in pipe flow system using Lab-View program

We hope that this course will serve as a valuable opportunity to spark undergraduate students' interest in fluid mechanics.

We look forward to your participation and encourage you to register.

Sincerely,
Prof. Jae-Sung Kwon
